Kifa Week'19 #Selebrating Afrika

The Kalahari International Festival of the Arts (Kifa) will be running under the theme 'Selebrating Afrika 2019' come December this year. The show, aims to foster appreciation and acceptance of African citizenship, immigrant populations, and to understanding de-colonial inclusion and diversity by progressively rebranding the African continent. The program, which will run for a week between 2 December and 7 December 2019, hopes to create a platform for artistic development activities to aspirant artists and disadvantaged communities, as well as for de-colonial Academia.

Apart from implementing an intercultural exchange, a network development, and a collaborative work, the program targets scientists, bankers, curators, educators, artists, and global leaders amongst others. This fourth edition of the festival will in partnership, with the Peace String Network, push for peaceful and progressive engagement within in the program activities. Below is a detailed table attached on the planned activities that are set to take place during the 'Selebrating Afrika 2019' week program.

This will include of course two panel discussions and one lecture talk as well as two auditions workshops. On 7 December 2019, which falls on a Saturday, the audience will be serenaded with music by the ‘Originalz’ concert performance group. This event will be a fundraising show for the Born A Star Academy, which will be running its regional integration program, come 2020.Other concert headliners include Afro Berries, Toshi, Slick Artie, Anel Unati, Ngai and Ras Sheehama. Tickets, Kifa week T-shirts would be on order basis, with the proceeds once again going to the Born A Star Academy.

‘Selebrating Afrika’ will promote the training and utilization of local educators and Art facilities and spaces in Windhoek such as the National Theatre of Namibia, College of the Arts, Goethe institute and Zoo Park Amphitheatre. The week-long program will see international media coverage value through newspapers, magazines, radio, and television due to the educational activities it offers for art enthusiasts, creatives and industry experts in Namibia.
